Color magic

The Norwegian Opera and Ballet customizes their costumes exactly how they were envisioned, says Kari Alette Baekkevold, the head of the print and dye shop. This approach was used to spectacular advantage for a recent production of Firebird, which required
rich, vibrant colors on fine textiles.

The Wasatch SoftRIP TX, developed exclusively for textile printing by Wasatch Computer Technology LLC, and a d.gen Artrix GT Digital Textile printer allows them to create extraordinary costumes and accessories for their productions. The company uses the technology to print on a variety of fabrics; for the last production the costumers printed on silk, viscose velvet, and silk pongee. Since detail is important, Swarovski stones and gold elements were added with exquisite results.
