Anchor Industries, Evansville, Ind., was recently awarded a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense to supply its vehicle maintenance shelters to the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support in Philadelphia, Pa. The shelters are engineered specifically for the military market, designed for multiple deployments and long-term fixed base operations.

Tough, 17-ounce laminated polyester vinyl is supplied by Bondcote Corp., Pulaski, Va., meeting the stringent requirements of USIFI-PRF-44103A to ensure durability and long life in the field in the harshest environments, and providing the highest degree of safety through enhanced flame and mildew resistance, as well as blackout technologies.

Shelters are designed for tactical wheeled and track vehicles and are operational within one hour with six personnel. They meet requirements of ASCE 7-98 building codes for temporary structures for wind loads up to 70 mph and 10 psf snow load. Three sizes have been contracted for in both green and desert tan colors: 25-by-32 feet, 25-by-40 feet and 27-by-48 feet.
