Hurricane Ian made landfall on Wednesday, Sept. 28, in southwestern Florida from Tampa to Naples, Bonita Springs, Sanibel Island, and Fort Myers, making its way inland to Orlando before heading up Florida to North Carolina. When Ian arrived in southwest Florida, it was a category 4 hurricane, decimating homes, businesses, roads and marine infrastructure.

Reports show Florida was impacted most significantly, a state that ranks number one in the country for boat registrations with nearly 1 million boats, as well as for annual sales of boats, marine engines and accessories, reaching $5.4 billion in 2021, the highest level on record, according to National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) annual Statistical Abstract.
