Godfrey Marine, a builder of pontoon boats and Hurricane deckboats, has broken ground on the expansion of its manufacturing plant in Elkhart, Ind. The new facilities include a 27,000-square-foot warehouse and an automation wing. The new warehouse space will enable a 30 percent increase in production, the company said in a statement. The automation capabilities include technology for pontoon tube production.

“With demand for new boats at an all-time high, it is vital to increase capacity to meet the future needs of our customers and dealers,” says Ben Duke, president of parent company Polaris Industries. “We are very excited to get these new facilities up and running, invest in our capabilities and grow our team, while benefitting the community.”

The development is part of a $10 million expansion that started in 2020. The company will add more than 50 jobs at the site over the next 18 months.
