Arkema expands Kynar® foam extrusion technology to new markets

Published On: December 18, 2015

Arkema is expanding the use of its Kynar® foam extrusion technology into new markets where a chemically resistant, fire resistant and high temperature polymer foam is required.

These markets include oil and gas, where chemical and high temperature resistance are key, as well as the transportation market, which requires high temperature/low flame and smoke, and lighter weight materials. The thermal insulation properties in the materials would be well suited for fluid transfer systems where heat retention is an objective.

The new technology allows for density reductions of up to 45 percent. The density reductions will be cost advantageous and will provide materials that maintain their chemical, corrosion and UV resistance while offering durability and weatherability.

Other target markets include semiconductor, wire and cable and a wide range of industrial markets.
