Huntsman celebrates 50th anniversary of manufacturing plant
Huntsman Textile Effects is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its primary manufacturing facility in the Americas. The plant in Atotonilquillo, Mexico, is one of Singapore-based Huntsman’s global centers producing dyes and chemicals for customers in the Americas and around the world.
The plant is ISO 9001 certified and has manufactured a range of innovative dye and chemicals in the past 50 years. These include Lanaset®, Terasil®, Teratop® and Eriofast® dyes for apparel, automotive and active wear, and UV-Fast®, Ultratex® and Sapamine® chemicals for sun protection, whitening and softening effects for markets including automotive, apparel and home textiles.
Through continuous investment and technology improvements of more than $50 million since 2010, the Atoto facility uses state-of-the-art manufacturing and effluent treatment processes to drive a more sustainable textile industry, says Paul Hulme, company president. Atoto’s ongoing investment will include an additional $5 million in the next 12–15 months to expand its product portfolio to meet growing demand in polyester active wear and the automotive market.
