AATCC winners announced
Concept 2 Consumer® Student Design Competition
The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) has announced four winners out of 88 entries for its tenth annual 2014 AATCC Concept 2 Consumer Student Design Competition.
This year’s theme, Boardwalk, asked college and university students to showcase their talent in textile design by creating a swimwear collection for 18-30-year-old women. Color palettes were chosen from the Pantone View Color Planner Summer 2014.
Awards included a first-place cash award of $1,000, along with a copy of Pantone’s Cotton Passport and a $100 Spoonflower gift certificate; a second-place cash award of $750 and a $100 Spoonflower gift certificate; and two honorable mention cash awards of $100 each, along with a $50 Spoonflower gift certificate.
The winners are:
- First place: Whittled Sands by Emma Sidoriak, University of Delaware
- Second place: Architectonic Armory by Mercedes Garcia-Reyes, Kansas State University
- Honorable mention: Bali Tides by Jordynn Beckman, University of Wisconsin-Stout
- Honorable mention: Native Pride by Elizabeth Gilligan, Drexel University
