More than 240 industry professionals braved challenging winter weather to attend the 2014 ATA Canada Expo at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel March 13–14. Educational sessions received high remarks and included Tent Installation, Anchoring Clinic, Sewing Workshop and a business track. Thirty companies exhibited on the show floor.

During the Annual Meeting the Honours Awards were presented, recognizing outstanding achievements in industrial fabrics applications. Bellon Awnings, Montreal, Quebec, and Fiesta Tents Ltd., Saint-Laurent, Quebec, received Outstanding Achievement Awards. Auvents OmbraSole, Montreal, Quebec, and House of Canvas, Ottawa, Ont., each received an Award of Excellence. The Nash Award was given to Sollertia Inc., Montreal.

ATA Canada members have been nominated to serve on the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) that is establishing a committee to develop a new National Standard of Canada for Flammability and Labeling Requirements for Tents. Nominated were Jason Lee, JJL Events Inc. as the voting member and Claude Le Bel, Sollertia Inc. as the voting alternate member to the committee.
