Eco-friendly bags serve as artistic accessories

Banner Creations Inc., Minneapolis, Minn., recently launched the second in its green bag artist series, an initiative to provide environmentally friendly fabric carriers with unique artistic designs. The bags, made from ecophab, a fabric composed of 100 percent recycled plastic, contain the vivid paintings and photographs of Kristin Wallner, a Twin Cities artist.

Buyers can select a 16-by-16-inch bag with a photograph of Valdez, Alaska; bright orange butterfly weed; or charming paintings of rabbits and lambs. Images are printed on both sides, and the 27-inch shoulder strap comes in either cotton or nylon. The washable bags make a statement at local farmer’s markets or grocery stores, especially when users are asked ”paper or plastic?” and respond “Neither. I brought my own!” The company will be making table runners, shower curtains and other recycled fabric products in the future. For more information, visit www.bannercreations.com.
